E' stata finalmente pubblicata la lista dei progetti LIFE approvati nel 2016 relativi al bando del 2015 (per i LIFE approvati nel 2017 cliccate qui invece): 144 nuovi progetti a livello europeo, ma dei quali Italia e Spagna realizzeranno oltre la metà (rispettivamente 37 e 39 progetti). Un quarto dei progetti all'Italia, università e centri ricerca in prima linea. Molto varie le tematiche ambientali affrontate, tra esse predominano l'ambiente e l'uso efficiente delle risorse, la protezione della natura, il clima, la sensibilizzazione dei cittadini. In Italia 15 di essi saranno coordinati da università e centri di ricerca che stanno diventando sempre più protagonisti nell'utilizzo di questo finanziamento (assieme alle imprese) mentre solo una associazione ambientalista coordinerà un progetto (la LIPU). Sempre più difficile avere approvato un LIFE Natura: le proposte approvate erano 10 nel 2013, 8 nel 2014 e solo 4 nel 2015. Il tasso di successo a livello europeo è cresciuto dal 9% del 2014 al 14% di quest'anno, anche a causa del minore numero di progetti presentati.
